Meet the Lancaster County artists on the Hart Road Potters Team

Here’s where American Folk Art and Contemporary Artists Meet

Get to know the Lancaster County artists, potters and staff who make Hart Road Potters what we are. We love making beautiful pottery, and even more, are thrilled that our customers love it too. We’re proud that we can carry on the pottery heritage that Lancaster County artists began more than two centuries ago. Each piece of Hart Road Potters pottery is signed, including the decorator’s initials. Over time, many of our customers find that they purchase pottery decorated by the same artist. Note that Hart Road Potters will have the remaining Eldreth Pottery stoneware and redware until it is all sold.

Our artists perform the many tasks required to create the beautiful pottery made at Hart Road Potters. “Turners” throw pottery on a wheel or jigger pottery on a mechanical device, and other pottery is created by hand building or by pouring liquid clay into plaster molds. After the pottery forms are complete, artists apply underglaze decoration using brushes filled with various underglaze colors. Our redware receives a final coat of glaze before firing, while our stoneware is glazed by salt thrown into the kiln during the firing process.

If you are unable to take the the pottery tour, feel free to ask your questions to one our knowledgable customer sales team.
